Why Cesena

Cesena is a delightful town that boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage. First of all, the Malatestiana Library (UNESCO World Heritage site), Piazza del Popolo (People’s Square), the Masini Fountain (a fine example of Baroque art), the Bonci Theatre and the Abbey of S. Maria del Monte. The hills embrace the city and from there you can see the Adriatic Sea.

Old town

A small town of Etruscan origins, Cesena boasts excitement, interesting sites and tradition. Notably the Malatestiana Library, a UNESCO World Heritage site which you cannot miss before leaving. We also suggest a walk through the Piazza del Popolo where you can admire an elegant example of Baroque art in the Masini Fountain; and a visit to the Abbey of S. Maria del Monte, where you can view the ex-votos and (upon request) visit the beautiful library.
The heart of Cesena is known for its nightlife, particularly on Wednesdays and the weekends.

The Bonci Theatre

The Bonci Theatre is a real gem, maintained with diligence and care, whose schedule ranges from opera to concerts, prose to research theatre, and musicals to ballet.

The hills

The hills surrounding Cesena are just a few kilometres away and provide not only charming landscapes but also a gentle breeze especially in the theatres of tasteful trattorias.

Cesenatico

A little less than 15 km lies Cesenatico – Cesena’s seaside – which stands out for its lovely Porto Canale, designed by Leonardo da Vinci, and today enhanced further by the colourful historic boats of the Adriatic. It’s nice to dine by the canal and at night then return to the quiet of our B&B.
